Calculations are made according to European (EN) and American (NFRC) standards. You can find detailed information about the standards from the explanation text on the result page.

When you start to create the combination, the 90° angle that represents the vertical glass will be selected. In cases where you are calculating for the roof skylight, you should change the angle between 0-89°. 0° represents a completely horizontal glazing parallel to the ground. For facades with different angles, you should enter the angle that the glass makes with the interior by using the “Change” button that exists below “Interior Angle” section at the bottom left of the page.

Only U value is affected by the angle change. This value changes at some specific degrees, and different values may not occur for each angle.

If you use tinted or reflective glass on the outer pane, you will provide solar control. In this case, using Solar Control Low-E coated glass on the inner pane will not provide additional solar control. In addition, the use of Solar Control Low-E coated glass in the inner pane will increase the stress on the glass and will bring thermal breakage risk. The recommended application is to use Low-E coated glass in the inner pane.

Solar Control Low-E coated glass should be on the surface of the outer pane facing the cavity. Low-E coated glass can be on both surfaces facing the cavity. Tentesol and Tentesol Titanium coated glass can be used on both surfaces of the outer pane. However, due to atmospheric conditions, it is recommended to use the coating on the surface facing the cavity.

As the heat insulation performance will be affected negatively, lamination with the coated surface facing PVB is not recommended. It is recommended to apply EN 12543 tests before mass production, as there is a risk of delamination depending on the process conditions and the PVB used. In addition, if laminated glass is produced with the coated surface facing the PVB, there can be a risk of potential coating corrosion starting from the edge as a result of the contact of the coating with air.

Increasing the thickness of the glass does not make a significant difference in the U value. Low-E/Solar Control Low-E coating should be used to improve the U value.

If you prefer argon gas instead of air as the cavity, and the width of 16 mm (optimal gap width), you can improve the U value. When you create some specific combinations with the triple insulating glass unit, you can reduce the U value up to 0.5 W/m²K.

Argon gas does not contribute to sound insulation, it only contributes to heat insulation.

When you need safety, temperable glass should be used. Temperable glass is suitable for use as safety glass, as it reduces the risk of injury by breaking into small and blunt pieces when broken. It is recommended to use safety glass on large glass surfaces on glass facades, and in situations where there is a risk of human impact. In addition, in order to minimize thermal breakage risks, you should choose the outer pane with heat and/or solar control feature to be temperable.

Thermal breakage risks may arise due to factors such as exposure to partial solar radiation along the surfaces of glass, temperature differences between day and night, glass' heat absorption coefficients or joinery types. Low-E coated insulating glass should be used in areas where heat control is needed, and Solar Control Low-E coated insulating glass should be used in areas where both heat and solar control are needed. The direction, location, function of the project, infrastructure conditions for heating and cooling are the factors affecting product preferences. No, technically there is no problem. Since the Solar Control Low-E coating has both heat and solar control features, putting a heat control coating (Low-E) on the inner pane again will not cause any improvement in performance.

In triple insulating glass unit, both inner and outer pane must be coated to provide maximum insulation. If you only add Solar Control Low-E coating to the outer pane, you can get similar results with double glazing. You can provide maximum thermal insulation and solar control when you use Solar Control Low-E coating with heat and solar control feature on the outer pane and Low-E coating with heat control feature on the inner pane of the triple insulating glass unit.

Laminated glass is recommended when you need safety and security. Thanks to the PVB layer, when it breaks, glass pieces stick to the layer and prevent from disintegrating. Laminated glass in the façade sections where there is a risk of falling down can not only ensure the safety of life and property, but also prevent unwanted passages against theft and attacks on the ground floors. At the same time, you can choose this glass in line with your sound insulation needs and reduce noise transitions.

You can improve the sound insulation value by applying the following items respectively:

• - Increasing glass thickness
• - Using different glass thicknesses in a double glazing unit
• - Using laminated/acoustic laminated glass in a double glazing unit
• - Using acoustic laminated glass on both panes of a double glazing unit

In Şişecam GlassTool, the outdoor temperature (Tout) is 5°C and the indoor temperature (Tin) is 20°C since the calculation is made according to the boundary temperature conditions and iterations in the ISO 52022 standard. On the other hand, for ASHRAE Tout=-18°C Tin=21°C in winter and Tout=32°C Tin=24°C in summer. It is not possible to change the temperature as it will be a non-standard situation.
